Recount Orientation
On Friday the 4th of September, The 10 Esol class went on a class trip by taxi van to the Antarctica center with Mrs. Flores, Miss Briggs, and Mrs. Handley.
At 8.40 in the morning, the 10 Esol class departed from Hornby high School to the Antarctica center. When we arrived at the Antarctica Centre at 9.00 am we met our instructor Jayne and we went to the workshop to talk about the explorers that had an adventure time in Antarctica back in the 1800s to 1900s.
Soon after the talk with Jayne, we got in the Hagglunds. We had a great time on the ride on the Hagglund with my classmates. The ride was bumpy and thrilling. The two instructors told us that the Hagglund was invented in Sweden to replace husky, of military transport and it was first used in 1970. It weighed up to 4530 kg and for 50,000 dollars. The best think about the Hagglund ride was when it went on the water and it floats.
Soon after the ride, we went to the penguin with Jayne. We meet the penguin and the lady who takes care of the penguins and feed them. It was time for the penguin to eat so the lady feeds them. The lady told us all of the penguins were rescued for e.g some have broken fin or blind. The oldest penguin was 17 years old. The little blue penguin is the little penguin in the world.
Soon after seeing the penguin and learning the penguin, we went to the 4D movie. We watch a movie called Ice Voyage. The movie was about the people tripping to Antarctica and the people in the movie climb a mountain to Antarctica. We were watching the movie and I felt like I was on the trip with them. The movie was a wild and thrilling movie.
Furthermore, watching the awesome great magnificent movie we had free time. Our teachers and instructor Jayne told us to go for a break. It was free time everyone went to eat food from home. Some of my classmates went to the cafe to buy some food but the food was expensive. The cafe is located beside the gift shop.
Soon after the free time, we went to the storm room. Before going into the storm room we prepared to wear some warm clothes and put a wrap on our shoes so that we won't seep on the ice. The storm room was dark and cold, we saw an igloo. When the wind started blowing everybody ran into the igloo. We were in the storm room of 8 minutes and the room temperature was -8 degree. When they turned it up to -18 degree everybody was very cold and everyone wanted to go to the small igloo. But not everyone could fit in there.
At 11.10 am we went to the gallery. The gallery full of explorers and stuff from Antarctica. We also did the booklet that we got from our teachers when the trip started. we also saw the amount of food the Explorers took when they went to Antarctica. The gallery was the final place in the Antarctica Centre that we went to before we head back to school.
At 12.40 am we went back to school.
